Just another general question. Does anyone know how to debug on signon peoplecode.

I have done a lot of work trying to customize the signon peoplecode to make sure the LDAP synchronization was tweaked according to our needs. It was a big pain, because there was no way i could debug it. So basically, i had to resort to methods like writing into log files or even to the extent of writing into a database table (which i created for testing :-) ) . Anyway, i know how it works now, but i am curious to find out if there are any methods to debug the signon peoplecode (like where does the code run? web server/ app server.. i am clueless, being a newbie in peoplesoft). Life would have been so much easier if i could have done it.

There is another way. The easy way to do it (provided your peoplesoft runs on a windows server) is to use OutputDebugString.

So do this:
Declare Function OutputDebugStringA Library "Kernel32.dll"
(string Ref As string);

Using it is stupidly simple in Peoplecode:
OutputDebugStringA("some text");

Then download the sysinternals suite from microsoft. In particular grab dbgview. Start is up in administrator mode! on the server.
Set the following flags (via capture from the menu), Capture Win32, Capture Global Win32, Pass-Through, Capture Events

From there on any OutputDebugStringA you use creates a line in your debug viewer.
Be aware that other programs also create debug messages, so I suggest you make a bit more specific message e.g.:
OutputDebugStringA("SS_LOGIN.OK_BUTTON.FieldChange: begin");
…..
OutputDebugStringA("SS_LOGIN.OK_BUTTON.FieldChange: end");
The beauty of this is that you do NOT need to remove that code. It can be left in there, it will not bother the workings of your peoplecode.
